Career Summary

Jessica Schmidt is hitting home runs in Cincinnati, and it suits this native Cincinnatian just fine! After spending nearly six years as the anchor of the #1 rated Sunday night show, and as the go-to reporter for FOX19 Now's late news, Jessica was promoted to weekday WXIX 6 p.m. anchor, and she produces and edits her own segments as the breaking news "Alert Desk" anchor. Her dedication to the craft also led to her joining the station's special projects department, where she focuses on her award-winning Crime Vault television series and newly launched Crime Vault podcast! On top of that, she specializes in digital streaming.

Getting home was a career goal, and she is happy for it, and so is Cincinnati, with readers of its popular arts and culture publication, City Beat, frequently voting in Jessica as Cincinnati's "Best Journalist" and "Best News Anchor".

Jessica has Bachelor of Arts and Science degrees in both Broadcast Journalism and Psychology from Kent State University. Jessica shined as an anchor, reporter, and acting news director with KSU's award-winning student-run college television station, TV2. Highlights included reporting from India with TV2-Communication's "International Storytelling" program.

Jessica was quickly encouraged up the ladder out of college working at WFIE-TV in Evansville, Indiana. She was promoted from G.A. reporter to WFIE's weekend anchor/producer and primary night-side reporter within a year.

Today she covers presidential visits, tells stories of national attention and maintains a standard of excellence for "FOX19 NOW"s newscast ratings.

When Jessica isn't anchoring or reporting, she's spending time with her husband, family members, and friends, or relaxing with her two cats, Mr. Skittles and Moxley. With the exception of her precious pets, it's not uncommon to find her and her team at the ballpark pulling for the Reds.
