Jessica Gavin lives to tell a good story. She is a terrific reporter with an anchor’s look and a commitment to make a difference. She joined 14 News, WFIE, Evansville, Indiana in October, 2014 after two years at WVNS-TV, Beckley, West Virginia.
Born in Miami, Jessica grew up in Hampton Roads Virginia and graduated from Liberty University, Lynchburg Virginia. She got very close to sports journalism after extensive sports reporting in college. But her internships at both WSET in Lynchburg and WTTG, Washington DC, guided her on a firm track to in news reporting.
She says she is grateful for a such an interesting career. She loves that she can break news, tell compelling stories, and meet people who are making a real difference.
She’s interviewed presidential candidates, governors and senators and covered everything from the 2012 presidential election, Black Lung disease, hurricane Sandy, the Inaugural Boy Scout Jamboree at the Summit Bechtel Reserve, the Charleston water crisis and to the Greenbrier Classic PGA Tour.
"When not on the clock, Jessica enjoys being actively involved with her community. She is a board member of the local American Red Cross, a "Big" with Big Brothers Big Sisters, an active member of Sertoma Club, and very involved with the Lima-Allen County Chamber of Commerce's Young Professionals group. She loves trying out local eateries and taking in a community theatre production or concert performance."
