Jerry Askin is a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor at the CBS affiliate in Orlando Florida, WKMG News 6. He joined News 6 in March 2018 from WMC, Memphis, Tennessee. His work includes covering historic rocket launches to high profile murder trials, the historic anniversary of the March on Selma, election fraud in Florida, and now, life during COVID-19.

Jerry is an Atlanta native. He attended Georgia State University and earned his master’s degree in Communication Leadership from Gonzaga University. His master’s level published thesis on “Breaking the Code of Silence in African American Communities” frequently applies to his daily work..
He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated and the National Association of Black Journalists. Jerry is the proud earner and recipient of the famed Boy Scout Eagle Scout Badge. He values community service, family, friends and his relationship with his God.
