You just might say that Jerry Askin is ‘must-C’ television. Jerry started at WCTV…moved to WTVC and now he reports at WMC. So, if you have a ‘C’ in your Call letters, Jerry may be fate for you.
But, this play on letters aside, Jerry Askin is one Catch of a reporter.
Awarded and often nominated for outstanding work, Jerry is a natural. He shows it every day on the tough streets of Memphis, Tennessee. He joined Action News 5 in October 2014 after stops in Chattanooga and Tallahassee. His resume highlights some of his many accomplishments.
A graduate of Georgia State University, Jerry wrote articles for the campus newspaper and reported for WRAS 88.5 FM. The newspaper recognized Jerry as the best beat reporter for his coverage on public safety at the university. He recently earned his Master's degree in Communication and Leadership Studies from Gonzaga University.
Jerry is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, the International Radio and Television Society, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated (“GQ” Zeta Mu chapter).
Jerry is the proud earner and recipient of the famed Boy Scout, Eagle Scout badge. Jerry values community service, family, friends, and his relationship with God.
