Career Summary

Luke Slabaugh is a story teller.

His reporting at WBIR, Knoxville is prolific, unique and compelling. As a sports reporter, he turned more than 50 highly memorable stories in 2017. He prides himself on connecting with the playmakers in each sport and telling their stories. He is a dynamic presence at the anchor desk and in breaking news situations. He also has a knack for creating commanding, viral content on social media platforms.

Luke spearheaded the station's coverage when the University of Tennessee fired football coach Butch Jones in November. He also led the station on-air and online on National Signing Day in February.

He goes beyond the field of play to establish relationships throughout the community.

Luke grew up in St. Louis. He earned his journalism degree from the University of Missouri. He is an avid reader, rock 'n roll music fan, and does his best to catch every Chicago Cubs game on TV.
