Kelsi Thorud is a general assignment reporter for WESH-TV, Orlando, Florida. Kelsi joined WESH in December 2018 from WTVQ, the ABC affiliate in Lexington, Kentucky.
Kelsi takes pride in being the station's go-to reporter and especially for political stories. She covered two Kentucky legislative sessions, the 2018 election season and the on-going legal and social battle against opioids in the state.
She describes herself as a highly motivated and versatile journalist with experience in enterprising stories and shooting and editing them for multiple platforms. A strength she says is her ability to analyze issues, find unique angles and simplify complex stories.
Prior to WTVQ, Kelsi reported for WEEK/WHOI in Peoria, Illinois. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Arizona. Go Wildcats, she says! While in college she worked as an investigative news intern at Fusion Network in Miami, and studied political journalism with The Fund for American Studies in Washington, D.C. She also interned at an online political news website.
Kelsi is originally from Oregon. She loves living in different parts of the country and traveling.
