James Starks is the morning news co-anchor at WTVG-13ABC in his hometown, Toledo, Ohio. Previously, James was the morning news anchor at WZZM in Grand Rapids, Michigan. James accomplished quite a feat successfully transitioning to news from sports in 2018.
Before making the switch to the news side, James was a sports anchor at KPRC in Houston, Texas and WLTX in Columbia, South Carolina. He’s covered NCAA bowl games, NBA Playoffs and the NFL Draft to name a few.
He's a 2008 graduate of Capital University where he was a two-time All American Defensive Back. He was sign an un-drafted free-agent contract with the Cincinnati Bengals. Following an injury, James took his football career international and played overseas in Italy. He would then earn his Masters in Broadcast Journalism from Kent State University.
In his spare time, he can be found spending time with his family, in the gym, supporting Manchester United and volunteering in his hometown.
