Career Summary

James Starks is the winning morning news co-anchor and reporter at WTVG-13 ABC in his hometown, Toledo, Ohio. He combines his news and market knowledge with charm, wit and an infectious style that wins friends and loyal viewers. He connects with the community and involves himself with its problems and needs.

Previously, James was the morning news anchor at WZZM in Grand Rapids Michigan. James successfully accomplished transitioning to news from his sports roles at KPRC Houston and WLTX Columbia South Carolina. His sports reporting included covering NCAA bowl games, NBA Playoffs and the NFL Draft.

He's a 2008 graduate of Capital University, Columbus Ohio, where he was a two-time All American Football Defensive Back. He was an un-drafted free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals. Following an injury, James took his football career to Europe and played in Italy.

James returned to earn his Masters in Broadcast Journalism from Kent State University.

When not working, he can be found volunteering in the community, in the gym and with his wife and daughters.
