Career Summary
Amber Krycka is now, March 2024, the evening news co-anchor at WOOD-TV Grand Rapids following three plus years in a similar role at WEEK-TV Peoria, Illinois.
Amber says, “television news moved me across the country and now home; there is nothing quite like Michigan. I’m so grateful to be at WOOD TV8 and tell the stories of my home state.”
From Nebraska, to Kentucky, to Florida to Illinois and now Michigan, Amber’s covered hurricanes, tropical storms, snowstorms, tornadoes, wildfires, and many national breaking news stories.
Everywhere she’s been she says, “I worked hard on local issues and needs. In Illinois during Covid for instance, I started a letter campaign to lift the spirits of people in nursing homes. It resulted in an annual campaign (four years) with thousands of letters collected from viewers each year. The best part came when I delivered the letters and cards myself.”
“Now I look forward to making a commitment and a mark here in Western Michigan.”
Personally, Amber is indeed the “mid-western girl” from Michigan. She graduated from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo. She actively volunteers in her communities, participates in her church, sings, plays the piano and keeps both her body and mind in shape by lots of outdoors activities especially “hiking with my husband.”
