Career Summary

Amber Krycka co-anchors the evening newscasts, 5pm, 6pm and 10pm, on WEEK-TV, NBC, Peoria Illinois. She is an inspiring and dramatic journalist who brings passion and commitment to every story she tells. From special assignment reporting to local events, Amber is the face of WEEK. “Our station is very involved in the community and so am I” she says. “I volunteer at several events, co-host our St. Jude’s telethon and during Covid, I started a letter drive sending cards to the elderly in nursing homes. Now it happens every year.”

She joined WEEK in September 2020 from her reporter/anchor role at WJAX-TV Jacksonville Florida. Amber joined the Action News Jax team in August 2016 from WTVQ, Lexington, Kentucky. Her career began in North Platte, Nebraska where she was both a reporter and news anchor.

Already, her reporting is bringing her face to face with historic events and people. She’s reported cold cases in Illinois, covered hurricanes in Florida, the Derby in Louisville, tornados in Nebraska, and the historic Senate race of Mitch McConnell vs. Alison Grimes in the Blue Grass State.

Personally, Amber is a "mid-western girl" from Michigan. She graduated from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo. She volunteers at a local nursing homes; participates actively in her church, sings, plays the piano and keeps both her body and mind in shape by lots of outdoors activities.
