Jessica Schmidt is an anchor and reporter at Evansville Indiana’s top-rated television news station, WFIE 14 News.
At WFIE, Jessica has covered presidential visits, told stories that have earned national attention and maintained a standard of excellent weekend newscast ratings. She is the only reporter in the market who has traveled to Washington D.C. four times to cover a local Honor Flight program for veterans.
Jessica quickly caught management’s eye at WFIE. After just a year as a general assignment multi-media journalist, the station promoted her weekend anchor/producer and to the primary night-side reporter slot. In that role, Jessica quickly established herself as a leader in the newsroom.
Before Evansville, Jessica shined at Kent State University’s award-winning student-run college television station, TV2 KSU. Her roles including newscast anchor, reporter (MMJ) and news director. For two weeks, she reported from India in an “International Story Telling” program in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Jessica received a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism from KSU in 2013.
Jessica was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, so naturally, she is a passionate Reds fan.
